Are Generational Curses in effect today? [Jan. 20th, 2008|12:19 pm]
writeinvest
The idea that sins of our ancestors can have a detrimental effect on our own lives stems from a misunderstanding of several scriptures.

In Exodus 20:5-6 and Deuteronomy 5:9-10 it speaks of the consequences of idolatry affecting the third and fourth generation. It says “Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.”

This warning is tempered with a greater promise of God's mercy: “And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.”

These passages show clearly that God said He would punish idolaters who hated Him and would bless those who loved Him. As Christians, if we love Him and keep His commandments this curse would never apply to us anyway.

Did God promise to remove the generational curses?

Through the prophet Jeremiah, God proclaimed that His justice would henceforth be applied to each person individually, holding them accountable for their own actions, and not those of their parents. Jeremiah 31:29-30 says, “In those days they shall not say any more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge. But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.”

It has been argued that curses such as lying or drinking can be passed on from our parents – as proof of the validity of the generational curse teaching. Though it is true that habitual sins (strongholds in our lives) can be “learned”, these are just as easily instilled in us by our surroundings and peers as from our parents, and are not actually curses (in the sense that the curses depicted in Exodus were actually punishments for sins, not the passing down of sins themselves).

There is no doubt that it is possible for there to be a negative effect on our lives from past generations. However, the form this effect takes, the extent that some teachings say it happens, and the almost total assumption that everyone must have a curse if they are experiencing problems is unfounded.

The bible makes is clear that our upbringing has a great effect on our walk with God. In Proverbs 22:6 it says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

If you recognise that there are areas of habitual sin in your life, whether or not they started with you or were perhaps learned from your parents or peers, then you should pray for release from these strongholds.

Teachers of the generational curse theory also advocate that it is the devil that puts curses on us or even that other people can put curses on us. This teaching is dangerous, as it undermines the authority of God over our lives.
Proverbs 26:2 says “As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.”

God will not allow people to use Satan to bring a curse upon his children. Numbers23:8 “How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the LORD hath not defied?”

In Old Testament times, just as a curse could be brought on yourself by disobedience, you had the chance to bring a blessing on yourself with obedience.

Advocates for the generational curse teaching also often class hereditary diseases or defects as being curses. God does not allow Satan to inflict illnesses on his children, unless there is some divine reason. If the illness is not a curse then what is it? It is simply a hereditary disease/problem as a result of defective or bad genetic code. As defective or missing genes are physical, one should ask for healing and for God to correct the DNA. You could also ask the Lord to cut off the hereditary illness so that your own children will not inherit it.

Note: John 9:1-3 also tells us that a man born blind had nothing to do with his sins or his parent’s sins. This means that even in the days when God was still punishing people to the third or fourth generation for their hated or disobedience – there were still people born with birth defects that had nothing to do with curses or sin. Therefore you should not accept, or feel any guilt or condemnation if someone tries to tell you that your physical condition is due to a curse. This simply is not that case.

Are the Ten Commandments Relevant today? [Jan. 20th, 2008|12:18 pm]
writeinvest
There are some pastors today within the Christian Church who are preaching that the Ten Commandments are no longer valid. Is this what the Word of God teaches?

Jesus summarized the Ten Commandments when He said, Mathew 22:37-40 “…Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets”.

Some people have misunderstood this to be saying that these two commandments replaced the Ten Commandments, but Jesus was not giving a ‘new’ law, He was in fact quoting an Old Testament scripture about the importance of keeping the Ten Commandments. Deuteronomy 6:5-8 “And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: … And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes”.

Jesus was showing that the Ten Commandments were a law of love, the first four commandments showed us how to love God, and the last six how to love our fellow man. This is why He said, “On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets”.

Another misunderstanding on the relevance of the Ten Commandments has come from Colossians 2:16 “Let no man therefore judge you in meat (offering), or in drink (offering), or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days:”. Many people who have read this verse out of context have concluded that this means that the fourth Commandment, which says “Remember the Sabbath day to keep it Holy….” was abolished at the cross, but this is not what the verse is saying. It is speaking about the Ceremonial law, which was abolished at the cross, when Jesus’ one time perfect sacrifice, made forever null and void the need for further animal sacrifices. If the previous verses are read, it is clear that it was the handwritten ceremonial law, and not the ten commandment law, which was written by God’s own finger in stone, that was abolished. Colossians 2:14 states, “blotting out the handwriting (the only laws written by hand were the ceremonial laws, written by Moses -) of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross.”

Also the ceremonial law had always been symbolically placed in the side of the Ark of the Covenant, to show that it was temporary, and ‘against’ the people. The Ten Commandment law on the other hand, was written in stone by the finger of God, and placed inside the Ark of the Covenant, symbolizing its eternal nature.

Luke further clarifies that there is a definite distinction between the Ten Commandment and Ceremonial laws, and that they were not one and the same. Luke 1:6 “And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.”

Does Jesus want us to keep all of the Ten Commandments? [Jan. 20th, 2008|12:18 pm]
writeinvest
Jesus showed us that the Ten Commandments would never change. Mathew 5:18 “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled”.

He also demonstrated that and that they were an eternal law of love John 15:10 “If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love”.

So if the Ten Commandments are still valid and in place today, why is it that most Christian denominations only keep nine, and ignore the fourth commandment which tells us to keep the seventh day Sabbath?

Jesus and His disciples all faithfully kept the seventh day Sabbath their entire lives.

It has been established by many historians and theologians that the books of Luke and Mathew were written between 60 and 80 AD. Luke does not tell us of a day change, but instead he states in Luke 23:56, “…And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.”

Jesus also showed that the Sabbath would still be kept after the cross when He prophesied about the forthcoming destruction of the temple, which happened around 70 AD. Jesus said, Matthew 24:20, “And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath.” This shows that Jesus was expecting His people to be faithfully keeping the Sabbath in the future. If the day was going to change in any way, this would have been the time for Jesus to prophecy about that.

Historians confirm that the seventh day Sabbath was kept by Jews and Gentiles alike, until about 120 AD when the persecution of the Jews for Sabbath keeping became so great that many Christians decided to go against the clear Commandment of God and started keeping Sunday, so as to distance themselves from the Jews. Some began using the excuse that it was in honour of the resurrection, to excuse that fact that there was no biblical basis for the change.

In 321 A.D. Constantine, who was a pagan, became Caesar in Rome and when he began to see the balance of power shift from paganism to the Church he passed the first law enforcing Sunday worship in 321 AD. Two years later he joined the Roman Catholic Church and began to intermingle paganism and Christianity. It was well after 400 AD before Sunday eventually took on the name of the Lord’s Day.

In many papers and documents written by the Roman Catholic Church, they openly take credit for moving the sanctity of the Seventh day Sabbath to Sunday, by their own authority, which they say is above that of the scriptures.

“The authority of the church could therefore not be bound to the authority of the Scriptures, because the Church had changed...the Sabbath into Sunday, not by command of Christ, but by its own authority.” Canon and Tradition, p. 263.

This means then that when we keep Sunday as our day of worship, instead of the Seventh day which was commanded by God, then we are putting man-made traditions above the Word of God. Can man really override or ignore the power and authority of God?

Who is The Remnant Church? [Jan. 20th, 2008|12:18 pm]
writeinvest
There is a lot of contention within the Christian world about who is the Remnant church.

Currently there are a multitude of Christian denominations. Is one of these the Remnant church or is the Remnant yet to emerge?

The best place to start looking to be able to identify who or what the remnant church is has to be the Bible. It is our only guide that can give us the full definition, and therefore let us identify the criteria that we need to check off to find a match.
Firstly what exactly is a remnant? It is a piece of something left over from the original which is identical to the original, but just smaller.

What then will the remnant church be? It will be filled with people who have the identical doctinal beliefs as the original church that we find described in the book of Acts. It will be a church who passionately follow Christ’s teachings and strive to follow His example in their own lives. Just as Jesus kept all of the Ten Commandments, the Remnant will keep all of the Ten Commandments out of love for Jesus, because this is what He instructed. John 15:10 “If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love”. This includes keeping the seventh day Holy as God ordained, and not the first day which is a man-made tradition.

This point is further clarified in the Book of Revelation where is speaks about Satan making war with the remnant who keep the commandments. Revelation 12:17 “And the dragon (Satan) was wroth with the woman (Church), and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”

The Bible makes is clear that at the end of time God will call His faithful people out of Babylon (the apostate Christian Churches) and into His remnant Church. Revelation 18:4 “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” This clearly demonstates that at present there are many of God’s true people in the wrong Churches, due to ignorance, to whom God will reveal the truth and draw out in the last days.

Babylon is symbolic of an apostate (non-Biblically based) Christian church which does not follow all the Commandments of God. Sin is the transgression of the law, and Churches who teach that only eight or nine of the commandments are relevant, are teaching their children to sin.

What where to other beliefs of the early church that have been lost in the modern Christian world?

Paul spoke of how we should look after our earthly bodies, because they are the temple of the Holy Spirit. He himself would have followed all of the health laws in relation to clean and unclean (healthy and unhealthy) foods which God had given to Moses for the benefit of mankind. The early chruch also believed that when they died, they would sleep until the resurrection to life at the second coming of Jesus. Paul’s writings also clarified that this was his understanding 1 Thessalonians 4:16 “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.”

They understood that hell-fire was to be an event and not a place, that the wicked would be raised at the second resurrection (resurrection to damnation), which occurs 1000 years after the resurrection to life (at the second coming). They believed that the wicked would receive their judgment and then be destroyed by hellfire.

Many Christians today believe that this Hell Fire will last forever and that the wicked will be eternally tormented but the Bible says that the Wages of Sin is death (not eternal life in torment). Malachi 4:1 “For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.”

The book of Luke makes it clear to us that He knew the Biblical timeline which went back to creation to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. When quoting the genealogy of Jesus, Luke sited the names of all of the forefathers of Jesus, going all the way back to Adam. Luke 3:23-38. This uninterrupted genealogy represented approximately 4000 years, not millions of years of evolution. No one doubted the ability of our awesome creator God to create our world in six days.

The early Church believed that Jesus is our only mediator and our High Priest. 1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” They did not exalt Mary to the position of co-mediator. They know that Jesus alone could forgive our sins. They detested idol worship and did not pray to statues named after saints. They followed the example of Jesus by getting baptised by full immersion in water. They acknowledged God's ownership of this world and everything in it by faithfully returning tithes and in fact many of them sold everything to fund the initial works of evangelism.

They also believed that marriage was divinely established by God in Eden and affirmed by Jesus to be a lifelong union between a man and a woman in a loving relationship and that the only cause for divorce was if a spouse committed adultory.
Revelation speaks of a huge outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the end times. It says that our ‘sons and daughters’ will prophecy. The gospel message will be taken to the entire world. Revelation also specifically speaks of three Angel’s messages that will be announced to everyone. Angels symbolise messengers and in fact the Greek word αγγελος (angelos) translates to both angel and messenger. These messages are:
Revelation 14:6-12 “And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. 8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. 9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. 12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”

We can surmise that these symbolic angels refer to the message given by God’s end time remnant Church. Interestingly there is one denomination who is active in proclaiming these messages and have a Satellite TV channel called 3 Angels Broadcasting Network which seems to be teaching solid Biblical doctrine with no pagan influence. This is possibly part of a fulfilment of prophecy. Also to be able to teach these messages it would be vitally important that the Remnant had a good understanding of the meanings of the prophecies of Revelation, using the scriptures and not private interpretations. Peter 1:20 “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.” The Church who actively preaches the three angels messages must understand and preach who the beast is, and what their mark is.

The Ten Commandments in Modern Times [Jan. 20th, 2008|12:18 pm]
writeinvest
It seems that the modern Christian world is beginning to conform to society, rather than standing apart as a distinct entity.

There was a time when describing someone as having good Christian ethics was seen as a good character trait. Nowadays the same person would more likely be described as a do-gooder or by some other equally derogatory term.

Living a good clean life and not having premarital sex is often snickered at. Fifty years ago having a baby out of wedlock was frowned upon, but today it is the norm, and no one blinks an eyelid.

Modern television and movies are most probably the biggest culprits, when it comes to reprogramming the mindset of the majority. Over the years more and more extra marital affairs, sex before marriage, nudity and even homosexuality have been portrayed on the picture screens, until it is no longer questioned as being immoral. It is now looked upon as being ‘people’s choices’.

A recent newspaper article I read was promoting the idea of ‘friends having casual sex’ with no strings attached, as an alternative for those who preferred to stay single, rather than the alternative of one night stands with strangers.

Violent crimes, child abuse, car-jackings, theft and all sorts of other crimes are happening every second of every day in our modern society. Surely it is about time that as Christians we began to take a stand for the Commandments of God, which He put in place for our benefit and to protect us from each other.

God’s Ten Commandments show us how to love Him and how to love our neighbour. How much better would this world be if there was no more dishonesty, theft, murders, and crimes of hate.

Many young people have no idea what the Ten Commandments even say. Is it any wonder then that children are taking to criminal activities at younger and younger ages, when they have never been taught right from wrong.

Rebellion and free thinking is encouraged in our schools, so children don’t have any issues with disobeying their parents. They need to be encouraged to understand that there is an awesome God of this universe, who has such power that He was able to create this world and everything in it, who is in heaven looking down on them and sees everything they ever do. Children need to be taught the boundaries that God put in place for their own protection.

I feel saddened when I hear some pastors teach that the Ten Commandments are done away with. Jesus Himself made it abundantly clear that the Ten Commandments were eternal in nature. Mathew 5:18 “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled”. These same pastors then complain about the number of marriage breakups in their congregations.

As Christians we need to realize that we are God’s people, and as His people we need to love and obey Him. Jeremiah 7:23 “But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people: and walk you in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.” This message is as relevant today as it was when it left the lips of Jeremiah the prophet.

Who is Mystery Babylon? [Jan. 20th, 2008|12:17 pm]
writeinvest
Many Christians are unaware of what the symbols used in the Revelation represent. It is not until you are given the keys to unlocking the prophecies that any sense can be made of them. The biblical principles for interpreting prophecy are quite simple 1) Use scripture to interpret scripture and 2) Understand that the method of repeat and enhance is utilised.

How do you use scripture to interpret scripture?

When reading the prophecies in Revelation it needs to be noted that over two thirds of this book is either quoting directly or alluding to other scriptures from the Old Testament or from Revelation itself. When you go and study the scriptures that are being referenced, they fill in the details needed to interpret the prophecies.

What is Repeat and Enhance?

Prophecies in the Bible are not given completely in any one spot. The method of repeat and enhance is used, where the same prophecy is given over and over, with each one written differently, or using other symbols, but building on the previous one. Revelation is not written as a contiguous book, the same prophecies are given from different viewpoints eg: The seven churches looks at things from a religious point of view, the seven trumpets look from a military point etc.

Who is Mystery Babylon?

Who is the Harlot Woman in Revelation with Mystery Babylon written on her forehead? Revelation 17:3-6 “…I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries. 5 This title was written on her forehead: mystery babylon the great the mother of prostitutes and of the abominations of the earth. 6 I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of those who bore testimony to Jesus. When I saw her, I was greatly astonished.”

In the Bible a WOMAN symbolizes a CHURCH. Christ is represented as the Bridegroom of the true church. Revelation speaks of a woman in white, which is the pure church and then the woman in scarlet, also called a ‘whore’, who represents a corrupt church. This corrupt church is named Mystery Babylon. It is a fallen church teaching false doctrines.

Revelation says that the woman in scarlet sits on many WATERS, explained in Revelation 17:1 & 15 as meaning worldwide with many “peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.”

Revelation 17:9 says Mystery Babylon is a church built on SEVEN HILLS or MOUNTAINS. This identifies it as a church that came out of Rome, for Rome is proverbial as “the city built on seven hills.” Revelation 17:4 says she is “decked with GOLD and PRECIOUS STONES and PEARLS, having a GOLDEN cup in her hand.” This means that she will be a church with great wealth.

Mystery Babylon is shown to be a RELIGIOUS power that also has political control, as it says the harlot church is riding, or in other words, directing the beast. A beast or animal is symbolic of a ruling king, kingdom or political power.

During the dark ages there was an alliance between church and state, which saw the papal power being given political dominion with an army at her disposal to seek out and kill all those who would not bow down to all of the religious doctrines and prerogatives of the church.

Today we no longer have any such religious-political powers ruling in the world, but Revelation prophecies that this scenario will be replayed at the end of time, with an apostate church, one that overrides the Bible and follows man-made traditions and pagan doctrines. It is describes as blasphemous, meaning that it will claim the power to forgive sins and take the place of Jesus on earth. Mystery Babylon will revive BABYLON’S pagan teachings such as idol worship and sun worship.

Revelation makes a clear distinction between the people of the true church, which it says ‘keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus’ and the people in the apostate church of Mystery Babylon. There are so many Christian churches today teaching that we no longer have to keep the commandments and many others that favour the sun-worship day of the pagans, instead of the Biblical Sabbath day of God for worship, who are even now laying the foundations that threaten to keep people from joining the true remnant church.

We can rest assured though, that God will not stand by idle and let this happen, for Revelation tells us that at the end of time God will begin to call His people out of Babylon and the apostate Christian churches. Revelation 18:4 “Then I heard another voice from heaven say: Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues;”

Who is the antichrist? [Jan. 20th, 2008|12:17 pm]
writeinvest
There is so much speculation in the world today about the antichrist. Some say George Bush or David Hasselhoff are the antichrist, others say that no one can know who this devious individual will be and yet others say he will not arise till sometime in the distant future. What does Bible prophecy tell us about the antichrist?

Most people agree that the Mark of the Beast relates to the antichrist, however they are unaware that the First Beast spoken of in Revelation 13, which is synonymous with the Little Horn power of Daniel 7, actually relate to a religious/political system and not an individual person, although there is an individual at the head of this system, speaking for it who could be seen as the representation of antichrist.

The prophet Daniel and the book of Revelation describe an antichrist beast power who would blaspheme God and war against the saints of God, overcoming them for 1260 years.

Daniel’s vision was of four great beasts, and then a little horn that arose from out of them. Dan 7:3-7 “And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. (4) The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it. (5) And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh. (6) After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it. (7) After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns. (8) I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things”.

As the angel explains to Daniel when he is giving him the interpretation of his vision, beasts represent kings or kingdoms. Daniel sees this as a ‘Little Horn’ power which would arise some time after the fall of the kingdoms of Babylon, Medo/Persia, Greece and Rome, and that it would emerge out of the Roman Empire.

Dan 7:17-21 “These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth”.

Dan 7:19 “Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet; (20) And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spoke very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows. (21) I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;”

In Revelation John sees a vision of a beast comprised of the same components as the one Daniel saw. Rev 13:1-8 “And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”

One important point to note about the antichrist beast power is that it does not represent some exotic fanatical religious group, but rather it originated out of the Christian church. 1Jn 2:18-19 “Little children, it is the last time: and as you have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. (19) They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.”

Anti not only can be interpreted to mean against, it can also mean in place of. Therefore any religious system who would seek to put themselves in place of Christ or claim that their leader is God on earth, fit the criteria. Any system who claims that their authority in religious matters supercedes that of the Holy Scriptures fit the criteria. Any religious system that teach that Christ did not come in the flesh, but rather took on the sinless nature of His mother Mary, fit the criteria. 2John 1:7 “For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist”.

Many years ago, when Bibles first hit the printing press and earnest followers of God began to read and understand Bible prophecies, they realized that the system under which they had been worshiping was not following Biblical principles. Thus began the protestant reformation. Who did the early reformers recognize to be the antichrist beast power of Daniel and Revelation?

Martin Luther aptly conveyed the sentiments of the Protestant reformers when he said “We here are of the conviction that the papacy is the seat of the true and real Antichrist...personally I declare that I owe the Pope no other obedience than that to Antichrist.” (Aug. 18, 1520) Taken from The Prophetic Faith of Our Fathers, Vol. 2., pg. 121 by Froom.

All of the early Protestant reformers clearly identified the first antichrist beast of Revelation to be none other than the false system of religion, and persecuting power found within the Roman Catholic Church. During the 1260 years of the dark ages millions of people were tortured and killed as ‘heretics’ for not bowing down to all of the precepts the church. Read “Foxes Book of Marty’s” for historical information on this subject.

Having identified the papal system as the antichrist beast by no means condemns the faithful Christians within this system who are unaware that the doctrines they have been following are not what God would have them follow. Revelation makes it clear that God does have His faithful people in many denominations today and that He will call these people out of the apostate churches and into His final remnant church Revelation 18:4 “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues”.

666 and the Mark of the Beast [Jan. 20th, 2008|12:16 pm]
writeinvest
Most Christians and in fact probably the majority of non-believers have heard about the Mark of the Beast as a figure of speech or heard that the Devil’s number is 666.

Where do we find out what the true meaning of 666 Mark of the Beast is? Is it something that we have to guess about or does the Bible reveal to us its true meaning?

Because the Bible tells us that the Mark of the beast will be on the forehead or the hand, many have assumed that this will be a physical mark such as a barcode or tattoo, and because we are told that those who don’t take the Mark of the Beast will not be allowed to buy to sell, others have concluded that the Mark of the Beast must then be a computer chip placed beneath the skin, which will allow people to purchase goods.

The book of Revelation, where the Mark of the Beast is spoken of, is greatly filled with symbolic language, and over two thirds of the book is either quoting or referencing other places in the Bible, either in the Old Testament or in Revelation itself. To understand the symbols used, you have to refer to the other passages that it is alluding to, to fill in the gaps and get the complete meaning of what is being said.

The symbolism of the hand and forehead is found in the Old Testament in the Book of Deuteronomy. When God gave the Israelites the Ten Commandments He said Deuteronomy 6:6, 8 “These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts…Tie them as symbols on your HANDS and bind them on your FOREHEADS”.The KJV translates “on your foreheads” to “frontlets between thine eyes”, beign the same thing.

Moses also said, Deuteronomy 11:18 “Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your HANDS and bind them on your FOREHEADS.”

God said that His Ten Commandment law was to be a sign upon our hands and foreheads. This did not mean that the Israelites where to have a tattoo or physical writing on their heads and hands, it simply symbolized that by their thoughts (forehead) and by their actions (hand) they were to show their allegiance to God, by following the directions He had given to them in His Commandments.

Therefore when Revelation talks about the Mark of the Beast going on the forehead or the hand, then this also means that at the end of time, people’s thoughts and actions will determine whether or not they receive the Seal of God or the Mark of the Beast.

The Mark of the Beast issue is also indicative of worship, whether we are worshiping God or worshiping and giving allegiance to the beast.

In Bible prophecy a beast is symbolic of a ruling power, king, kingdom or political religious power. Daniel 7:23 “Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces”.

At the end of time it relates to a political religious power which will be dominant world wide and demand worship which is opposite or opposed to the worship which God had demanded from His people.

There is a distinction made between God’s Remnant church and those who take the Mark of the Beast, this distinction is that God’s church follow all of His Commandments, which includes keeping the seventh day Sabbath. Revelation 12:17 says “the dragon was wroth with the woman (The Church), and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which KEEP the Commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” There are many other places in the Bible where God says outright that the Sabbath is a SIGN that it is Him that we worship.

Where Revelation speaks of those who don’t get the Mark of the Beast it specifically references the fourth commandment by quoting from it. Revelation 14:7 “Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. 8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. 9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:”

Which Christian religious system who are already seeking worldwide religious domination, changed the fourth Commandment of God? Which religious system claim that their doctrines overrule those in the scriptures?

The Catholic Church says that the mark of their authority, is the fact that without scriptural support they changed the Seventh Day Sabbath of God to Sunday. Therefore, by their own admission, Sunday keeping (which is worshiping on a counterfeit day of worship, on the day that the pagans worship the Sun god) is their Mark. When they gain world domination as a political religious ruling power, then this shall become the Mark of the Beast.

The idea of the papal system of religion correlating to antichrist and the fourth beast of Daniel 7 and Revelation 13 is not new. All of the early Protestant reformers who understood Bible prophecy had identified them as such. Following is just one of many quotes:

Cotton Mather (1663-1728) (Congregational Theologian): “The oracles of God foretold the rising of an Antichrist in the Christian Church: and in the Pope of Rome, all the characteristics of that Antichrist are so marvelously answered that if any who read the Scriptures do not see it, there is a marvelous blindness upon them.” Taken from The Fall of Babylon by Cotton Mather in Froom’s book, The Prophetic Faith of Our Fathers, Vol. 3, pg. 113.

Does Jesus want us to keep all of the Ten Commandments? [Jun. 25th, 2007|09:03 pm]
